no,
I haven’t died.
but this has been the longest week since I’ve been here. I was literally at university every day from 10 to … 7? 8? 9? 10PM? I’ve forgotten… in any case… busy busy busy. We have a show at Teatergarasjen on friday. It’s (very loosely, as in: “not at all”) inspired by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. You should come. It’s going to be good bad.

incredibly loud and..
things have been a little weird around here. and impossibly loud, and good, and busy, and and and…
friday we celebrated andrew’s birthday. we got him a notebook, and a scarf, we put up a note on his door at 4am and in the evening I had my first ‘DJ’ night. It was more like playing music I like rather than really djing but it was fun enough. People (the ‘big’ crowd, anyway) started showing up after 1, so the last hour was hectic.. my boss – well, one of them – looked like an old norwegian punk. At first I didn’t know he was my boss (I’d only met his wife on wednesday), just thought he was some guy who was really into all the music I was playing. It turns out that he likes Joy Division – like, a LOT – so he danced like crazy to Love Will Tear Us Apart. He was also enthusiastic about Declare Independence – yes I like that song so much.
Everybody’s mood was a bit strange after they found out what happened on wednesday (a girl hung herself in front of the club, there was a place with candles and flowers that her friends had left in her memory.)
Today was the first Silent Space/Empty Space workshop day. We’ve got a lot to go through if we want to have performances ready for the Open House day in two weeks, so that basically means working 10-5 (sometimes longer) + the weekend. I’m making my books on the side too – I feel like I’ve finally found a niche here and I really don’t want to leave in December. I need more time. My tutor is totally supporting my decision though, so let’s see what happens. Cross your fingers…
notes
yes, we do like post-its.
the sisterhood of john tucker
tobi came over and let us turn him into a girl for an evening.
we improvised a slumber party with a midnight dinner (asian rice… with squash, mango, cashew nuts) – after which we piled up mattresses, pillows, a blanket on ana’s floor and settled down to watch silly movie #1 (John Tucker Must Die) and silly movie #2 ( The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).
can’t believe that today is friday!
apart from the fact that I got a billion things done today – I am proud to announce that, as I have finally registered at the local police station, brought in all the papers, photos, passport,… I am not an illegal immigrant anymore – this evening really felt like a sunday.. so knowing I have a whole weekend ahead of me (also considering I’ve got to read Twelfth Night by tuesday – go, Shakespeare, go, go!) was kind of a relief.
Still no sign of my Murder Mystery merch – the evil norwegian postal service strikes back..let’s just hope for the best!
21 and invincible.
I feel I have to comment on this really day I had … tuesday..
it was totally amazing because the day was so incredibly sunny. the leaves were so yellow and the sky so blue that it seemed like a photoshopped landscape (as proven here). In the morning it was nicely cold – the grass was shining with dew.
I went to the public library – which is one of my favorite places in Bergen – to return my book, then I went to the record store and bought this, which made me happy. Just because.
I hung out with a bunch of cats by the church, met Ana and Stefan for lunch and then tried to find a pair of jeans for an acceptable price. yes, because I don’t know if holes in my jeans right at the crotch are a good idea…
so here are my Fretex-findings
a bee sweater!
jeans!
of course my day wouldn’t have been perfect without this:
someone’s gonna be making muffins soon…..
it’s monday and raining.
okay, so today is not monday.
but Bergen is back in rainy mode…unlike two days ago.
this is what a perfect autumn should feel like..
kitchen story
finally, brought to you by “norway influences my baking habits”: the SKILLINGSBOLLER.
they look more like sweet bread, I know. grrr.
Eurotrip.
This is a really awful movie.
It does help to cheer you up though, when things are a little awkward or not so great. I watched it tonight with my wonderful flatmate Ana and we laughed at every silly little joke :)
(Borat was our original pick… I guess that’s for next time.)
things to look forward to this week:
- (almost) NO CLASSES
- special phone calls :)
- I’m making cinnamon rolls!
- dinner with stefan and ana tomorrow
- getting new books from the public library.
- The Murder Mystery EP+ shirt being shipped to my doorstep
- getting that new phone number thing sorted out, seriously
I thank you from the heart
thank you stefan :)
