you gave up on me, darling.

It all started with a glitchy, lazy synth-pop tune: If the vocals weren’t so clear and  hazily beautiful – think my beloved Audrey – the Canadian-Norwegian duo Bow To Each Other probably wouldn’t have gotten away with such a cheesy-sounding track that has everything in its melody we learned to dislike from the worst of the 80s and 90s. Surprisingly, all this sleaziness does is frame, almost perfectly, a wonderfully light pop song.

The single Darling (due for release on November 22nd) is about heartbreak and questions where the fault lies in crumbling relationships; it does so in a very simple way, with childlike innocence, staring out of the window under the rain or walking along the train tracks, yet determined to leave this old love behind like an animal shedding its skin.
