Josh Ritter: To the Dogs or Whoever (from The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter)
A little catchy – maybe happier than a lot of his previous songs – the Josh Ritter in this song is like a truer version of Ryan Adams. More folk-americana than I’d want it to be, but so addictive.
Everton: MC1R (from Floorsleepers)
A local band that I never really listened to until recently. They are releasing a new album in September, and I am really looking forward to it. After listening to some old material (though not enough to be able to judge properly) it seems like Floorsleepers takes a huge step forward.
Vanessa Carlton: White Houses (from Harmonium)
A girl and a piano. I think I always underestimated Vanessa Carlton by quickly labelling her as a One-Hit Pop Wonder (A Thousand Miles, anyone?) but oh, there’s so much more behind it.. some gorgeous and uncomplicated lyrics and a nice voice.
More coming soon. ha.
