the Hipster’s Guide to a very Merry Christmas

SEVEN DAYS TO GO…

I have to admit that I have always been a fan of Christmas. When I was a kid, of course, I would always hope to see Santa coming down the chimney (because, yes, I belonged to one of those lucky families that had a fireplace). The only time I saw ‘him’, he unexpectedly rang the doorbell..and suspiciously looked very much like our old family friend Giammario. Years passed, and I grew up and stopped believing in the tale of Christmas, however appealing reindeer magically pulling a gift-bearing sleigh across the sky may be. The years ahead were full of what I nicely like to remember as the Absolutely Unnecessary Christmas Stress (aka AUCS). Stress because, well, no matter how many relatives say things such as, “it’s the thought that counts” or “let’s just have a family reunion this year, but no presents”, there are always people who will: a) dislike whatever it is you managed to get them at the last minute and b) get upset if you followed said advice of not getting anyone any thing and you, in fact, simply brought your presence to the beautifully decorated Christmas table. And Absolutely Unnecessary because the important things about Christmas are giving (but not for the sake of giving), being cheerful (without trying too hard), relaxing (so.. no stress. right?) and spending time with the family. We tend to do neither of these things, except maybe the latter.

And that is why, instead of giving you a bunch of Christmas advice that you will not even think to follow, I will instead offer you my take on the (very-popular-among-music-bloggers) Christmas Mix. To enjoy with or without the family, to sing along and relax to. Your very own Hipster’s Guide to a very Merry (and hopefully not-so-stressy) Christmas!

  • Thank you for sharing all these files of Christmas songs.

Happiest of Holidays would be when artists are paid for the songs listened to.

Also, Marilyn never recorded SANTA BABY. It is our artist, CYNTHIA BASINET.

Find her and these other artists on iTunes.
