So I’ve booked my flight out to London. finally! there are rumours of BSM Kev leaving the Oxford headquarters to come meet me (us) in the big English capital.. shhh, we’ll see..
Speaking of Big Scary Monsters, I’ll never stop showing endless love for amazing musicians like Kevin Devine, who has a fantastic voice, gorgeous lyrics and is super friendly. Kevin has released his new album Brother’s Blood last year via BSM, and I just now got to hear a lovely KEXP session (I love KEXP, don’t you?) he did in the New York studios, with the Goddamn Band. I say you should go listen! He has a short talk with John Richards from The Morning Show where he briefly mentions two bands he was on tour with that I both love: Brand New and Manchester Orchestra. The latter actually did a split single with him a while back, I know, it’s old news, but I thought at the time that it was fantastic that they were covering each other’s songs.. You can listen to it and download it for free here, by the way.
My name has five letters in it, and comes up in some Bright Eyes songs. I am (apparently) an artist, with too much time on her hands. Well, enough to blog (almost) daily. I am 1/4 (the smallest one, actually) of Lazy Acre Records; I also write & photograph for a
localmagazine based in Englaaand and makeused to draw musically-inspired comics for a canadian mag (RIP Inscribed). As if that wasn't enough, I book bands for a local experimental music venue called Subterrarium: we rock pretty hard. Sometimes I can be quite cute. I used tostill have a crush on Marty McFly; I like baking, overusing semi-colons, the smell of the sea, and thunderstorms.
I tend to be quite the busy bee, but if you make VERY sexy music and want me to listen and enjoy and possibly even (!!) write about it, shoot me a mail, baby. music(at)alicetragedy(dot)org
