I used to listen to music all the time while working – sometimes even while I wrote. After a while though, I realised that it slows down my productivity and concentration at times. In the last month or so, I’ve grown accustomed to having at least two pairs of earplugs on me at all times – I push them into my ears when the world becomes too loud for me. This includes sitting at a coffee shop while typing away, or being sprawled on a sofa drawing when there’s other people around. Another thing I’m slowly getting into are doing and listening to interviews and recording music and people – maybe because these last months I’ve had the opportunity of being around a lot of people who’d just pick up guitars randomly or sit at a piano to play and jam and have fun with music, all quite spontaneous. It’s one of the things I really like about my (otherwise stupid) phone: the recording tool. you can just sit there, click on a few buttons, and it’ll start recording. When I’m not listening to those or to silence or to music, I really enjoy spoken voices. For example, interviews. Video annoys me, because you have to sit there and WATCH and LISTEN, but audio recordings and radio interviews are totally my thing. This one is one of my favorites, maybe because I’m a slight HUGE FAN when it comes to Jeff Buckley. Not only do I adore his music, but I also really love hearing his spoken voice. (I hated the fact that they (re-)issued a Live At Sin-É full of extra songs, which killed the beauty of the Live At Sin-É EP, but oh my, there’s lots of talking on that record, which I really like like like like.)
